How we work

Here's what makes us easy to work with and
hard to replace:

From code quality to compliance, we have optimised every part of how we work to support high-performing engineering teams. For you, that means clearer communication and smoother delivery, plus the peace of mind of a development partner you can depend on.

We hire the top 1% of over two million applicants, so you only work with the best.

We give you engineers who've already proven they can deliver. Our evaluation covers technical tests, English assessments, soft-skill screening and problem-solving simulations. Out of the applicants who apply each year, fewer than 1% get the chance to join our team. That is how we make sure you get highly qualified developers who are experts in their fields.

Your team works your hours, not the other way round.

Our engineers overlap with your working day, so stand-ups happen live, questions get answered the same morning they are asked, and a blocker never costs you a full day of waiting.

Communication that needs no translation layer.

Every engineer is assessed for spoken and written English before they join a client team, so design discussions, code review and written documentation all happen without friction.

One team from the database to the interface.

Front end, back end, data, infrastructure and QA sit in the same team, so a feature is delivered end to end rather than handed between vendors at every layer.

Add or reduce capacity as the roadmap moves.

Start with one engineer or a full squad and change the shape of the team as priorities shift. You are never carrying capacity you no longer need.

Paperwork that does not hold up the kick-off.

We work from standard master service agreements and statements of work that your legal team will recognise, so contracting takes days rather than months.

The work is yours, in writing, from the first commit.

Mutual NDAs are signed before any brief is shared, and every contract assigns intellectual property in the work to you outright.

Security practices built for regulated environments.

Access is least-privilege and audited, secrets never live in the repository, and we work inside your own tooling and controls where you have them.

A delivery lead accountable for the outcome.

Every engagement has a named delivery lead who tracks scope, quality and pace, and who is the single person you speak to when something needs to change.

E-commerce capabilities

Everything between the product page
and the parcel leaving the door.

Nine areas we build in. Most projects need four or five of them - the call tells you which.

Product, category, search and cart pages built to hold a real catalogue rather than a demo one. Server-rendered so the first view does not wait for JavaScript, and structured so a merchandiser can change a page without a deployment.

  • Next.js,Shopify,WooCommerce,BigCommerce

A storefront built separately from the commerce engine, for catalogues that outgrew a theme: multiple brands or regions, content sitting alongside products, or pricing rules the platform will not express. Worth the extra build only when it buys you something specific.

  • Shopify Hydrogen,Commerce APIs,GraphQL

Gateway integration tested against real card behaviour - 3D Secure, declines, partial refunds, chargebacks - with wallets offered before card entry and the total honest from the first step.

  • Stripe,PayPal,Apple Pay,Google Pay

Products, variants, customers and order history moved with a rehearsal on a copy of your live data and a rollback plan that has been tested rather than written down.

  • CSV,API,PIM feeds

Search that understands synonyms and misspellings, filters built from your own attributes, and ranking a merchandiser can influence without asking an engineer.

  • Algolia,Elasticsearch,native search

Orders, stock and customers kept in step with the ERP, PIM, warehouse or accounting system - with retries, idempotent writes and an alert when a sync stops, not a silent drift.

  • REST,GraphQL,webhooks,scheduled feeds

Core Web Vitals held on real product and category pages: images sized and served in modern formats, third-party scripts kept off the critical path, and load tested to your own peak.

  • Core Web Vitals,CDN,caching,load testing

Measurement that survives consent and ad blockers, tracking the funnel rather than pageviews, so a checkout change can be judged on what it did to completed orders.

  • GA4,server-side tagging,consent mode

Platform and dependency updates, monitoring, and a monthly read of what the numbers are saying - for teams who would rather keep improving the store than hand it over and hope.

  • Monitoring,updates,roadmap

How an e-commerce build runs

Seven steps, in the order
that avoids the expensive surprises.

Catalogue and integrations first, storefront second. The reverse is how projects discover in week ten that the ERP cannot do what was assumed.

  • Catalogue and constraints

We start with your product data and the systems the orders have to reach, because those decide the shape of the build far more than the storefront does.

    1
  • Platform decision

Headless or platform, argued on your requirements and written down - including the case against the more expensive option, when that is the honest one.

    2
  • Design against real data

Product, cart and checkout designed with your longest titles, worst photographs and most awkward variants in view, so nothing breaks on the first week of live data.

    3
  • Build and integrate

Storefront, checkout and the connections to your other systems, built in slices you can see working rather than revealed at the end.

    4
  • Migrate and map

Catalogue, customers and order history moved with a rehearsal and a rollback, and every old URL mapped to its new one so the rankings come with you.

    5
  • Load test before peak

Add-to-cart, checkout and inventory writes tested at your busiest hour with headroom on top - and fixed where they fall over, before the day that matters.

    6
  • Launch and hand over

Repository, infrastructure and documentation handed to you. Support afterwards if you want it, not because you are locked in.

E-commerce questions we are asked before every build.

How long does an e-commerce build take?

A hardened Shopify or WooCommerce build is usually six to ten weeks. A headless storefront on Next.js is twelve to twenty, because the catalogue, checkout and content model are built rather than configured. The variable is rarely the storefront - it is how clean your product data is, how many payment and tax rules you carry, and how many systems the orders have to reach once they are placed. We scope those three first, and tell you which of them is the long pole before you commit.

Should we go headless, or stay on Shopify or WooCommerce?

Headless earns its keep when the storefront has to do something the platform's theme layer will not: heavy content alongside products, several brands or regions from one catalogue, unusual bundling or pricing, or page speed that theme apps keep eroding. If your needs are a catalogue, a cart and a checkout, a well-built Shopify or WooCommerce store will cost less to run and less to change. We will tell you when a platform build is the better answer, including when that means a smaller project for us.

Can you migrate our existing store without losing orders or SEO?

Yes, and the SEO half is the part most migrations get wrong. Products, variants, customers and order history move with a rollback plan and a rehearsal on a copy of your live data. Alongside that we map every existing URL to its new one, keep the redirects permanent, carry over titles, descriptions and structured data, and compare the crawl before and after so nothing quietly drops out of the index. Rankings usually wobble for a week or two; they should not fall off.

How do you handle payments, tax and multi-currency?

Payments through the gateways your bank and your customers actually use, with the flows tested against real card behaviour rather than a demo key: 3D Secure, declines, partial refunds, chargebacks. Tax is configured per jurisdiction rather than assumed - GST for Australian sales, VAT where it applies, and the correct treatment for exports. Multi-currency covers pricing and presentation, and we will be clear about which parts your payment provider settles and which you carry.

Will the store hold up on our busiest day?

That is a load test, not an opinion. We agree a target - your best hour last year with headroom on top - and test the paths that actually break under load, which are add-to-cart, checkout and inventory writes, not the home page. Where it falls over we fix it before your peak, whether that means caching, queueing the writes, or a plan for what the site does when a downstream system is slow.

How do you make the checkout convert better?

By removing steps and removing surprises. Fewer fields, address autocomplete, wallets offered before card entry, and shipping and tax shown early enough that the total is never a shock at the end. Then we instrument it: where people stop, on which device, and at which step. Abandoned-cart recovery is worth having, but it is a patch over a checkout that lost someone - the checkout comes first.

Do you work with our ERP, PIM or warehouse system?

Usually yes, through whatever the system offers - a REST or GraphQL API, a webhook, a scheduled file drop. The integration work is less about the connection than about what happens when it fails: retries, idempotent order writes so a repeat never becomes a duplicate, and an alert when stock has stopped syncing rather than a silent drift. Tell us the systems early, because they shape the build more than the storefront does.

How fast will the site be, and does that affect sales?

We build to Core Web Vitals thresholds on real product and category pages, not on a stripped test page - images sized and served in modern formats, third-party scripts kept off the critical path, and the catalogue rendered on the server so the first view does not wait for JavaScript. Speed matters commercially on mobile above all, where a slow product page loses people before they have seen the price.

What happens to the site after launch?

You get the repository, the infrastructure and the documentation - the store is yours, not rented from us. Beyond that we offer a support arrangement covering platform and dependency updates, monitoring, and a monthly look at what the numbers are telling you. Plenty of clients take the handover and run it in-house, which is a fair outcome and the reason we document as we go rather than at the end.

Can you handle B2B pricing, accounts and approvals?

Yes - customer-specific price lists, quantity breaks, quotes, purchase orders, credit terms and multi-user accounts where a buyer raises an order and a manager approves it. B2B is where off-the-shelf themes run out first, so this is often the point at which a headless build or a platform's B2B tier becomes the honest recommendation.

Do you design the store as well as build it?

Yes. Design and build sit in the same team, which matters most on the pages that earn money: the product page, the cart and the checkout. We design against your real catalogue - long titles, missing images, twelve variants, the products nobody photographed - because a store designed on ideal data breaks on the first week of real data.

How do we start, and what will it cost?

Start with a short call and a look at your current store or catalogue. From that you get a written scope, a delivery plan and a fixed price for the first phase, before any commitment beyond the call. We price the discovery separately and small on purpose - it should be cheap to find out whether we are the right fit.

Let us look at your store and tell you what we would change.
