Digital inspection before detailing: how to protect your center from scratch disputes
An old scratch that wasn't recorded can become a dispute and a claim. Two minutes of digital inspection at check-in protect your center and its reputation.

The problem: the scratch was already there… so who is responsible?
The customer leaves the car for polishing or paint protection, and at pickup notices a scratch or mark they hadn't seen before. Without a record of the car's condition before work, it's hard to prove it was already there, so it becomes the center's responsibility.
What is a digital inspection?
Instead of a handwritten sheet, staff mark every scratch or note on a car diagram on the tablet with a tap, then the customer signs on screen. It's saved with the visit.
- Scratches and notes marked on the car diagram.
- The customer signs on the tablet before work starts.
- The inspection is saved with the visit and the plate number.
Why it matters more for nano ceramic and PPF
These are high-value services and customers scrutinise the result. Recording the paint's condition before work shows what was treated and what was already there, makes handover easier, and protects the warranty from claims it doesn't cover.
How to do it without slowing reception
The key is making inspection part of the check-in journey, not a separate step. In Kafa'a the inspection comes right after choosing services on the reception tablet, then the signature, then payment, with no switching between systems.
